East Tech and Cleveland Central Catholic are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2016, but not for long. The East Tech Scarabs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cleveland Central Catholic Ironmen at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in East Tech's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Cleveland Central Catholic has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
Last Saturday, East Tech had to suffer through a rough 85-47 loss at the hands of Mentor. While losing is never fun, East Tech can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 346th, while Mentor is ranked 58th).
East Tech's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Keshawn Ellington, who scored 15 points along with three steals, and Chris Simon who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though Villa Angela-St. Joseph scored an imposing 57 points on Friday, Cleveland Central Catholic still came out on top. Cleveland Central Catholic blew past Villa Angela-St. Joseph 83-57. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 49-21.
East Tech's loss dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Cleveland Central Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 8-11.
East Tech skirted past Cleveland Central Catholic 76-73 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Does East Tech have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cleveland Central Catholic turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
