The Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory Braves will face off against the University Trailblazers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.
On Friday, Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory beat Franklin Central 6-2. That's two games straight that the Braves have won by exactly four runs.
Anthony Suscha was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Andrew O'Brien, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, University's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Cathedral by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Trailblazers have suffered since April 12th.
Cooper Cammack was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He has become a key player for University: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-8 otherwise. Cooper Burnett was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
University's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like University struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory came out on top in a nail-biter against University in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 11-10. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Braves since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
