Lassiter extended the longest winning streak in AAAAAA Region 5 this week by beating Milton, 47-30. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
Walton was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in the league. Earlier in the week, the Raiders defeated Wheeler 24-23.
The Wildcats' Elijah Staley and Emanuel Beal have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Staley has thrown for 673 yards this season, while Beal has 15 catches for 273 yards. Walton's Tyren Jones leads the league in rushing yards with 1725.
Two highly touted recruits will be in the spotlight when Rocky Hidalgo's team and the Eagles meet this week. The Raiders features well-regarded junior Parker McLeod while Milton has Nick Wilson, a sought after sophomore.
A big matchup in AAAAAA Region 5 this week will be when Lassiter takes on Wheeler. As it stands, the Trojans are in first, while the Wildcats are in fourth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Lassiter takes on Wheeler. The Trojans have allowed 104 points this season, while the Wildcats have given up 122. Lassiter allowed 30 points last week as it defeated Howie Decristofaro's team.
Walton was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating Wheeler. The Raiders came in at 25 in the state poll after placing at number 31 last week.
