The Maywood CES Wolfpack's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Marquez, falling 64-24. Maywood CES was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-14.
Marquez's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Elyjah Staples, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The contest was Staples' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Nunez, who scored 16 points.
Maywood CES bumped their record down to 4-12 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Marquez, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
Maywood CES will head out on the road to face off against Elizabeth at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Marquez, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sierra Vista at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Aaron Buna and Lamont White Jr.
