Basketball Game Preview: Glen Iris Baptist Swordsmen vs. East Central HomeSchool Patriots

The Glen Iris Baptist Swordsmen will challenge the East Central HomeSchool Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

If Glen Iris Baptist beats East Central HomeSchool with 59 points on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Glen Iris Baptist breezed by Pineview Christian to the tune of 59-29 on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Swordsmen who have now won five contests in a row.

Glen Iris Baptist got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lanie Saruse out in front who went 11 of 20 on her way to 28 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Saruse has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Rebekah Everett, who posted 13 points along with five assists and four steals.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led East Central HomeSchool over Wiregrass in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that East Central HomeSchool blew Wiregrass out of the water with a 55-11 final score. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while the Kings are ranked 392nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Glen Iris Baptist's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.3 points per game. As for East Central HomeSchool, their win bumped their record up to 12-2.

Glen Iris Baptist suffered a grim 50-30 defeat to East Central HomeSchool in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of East Central HomeSchool's Micah Coalson, who went 11 for 24 en route to 25 points and eight steals.
