This season hasn't been kind to the Geibel Catholic Gators, who are still winless after their sixth matchup. They took a serious blow against Carmichaels on Friday, falling 72-42. Geibel Catholic was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Carmichaels apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Several Gators players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gary Tarbuk, who scored 14 points. Tarbuk hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Tommy Kolencik, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and four blocks.
Geibel Catholic's defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-6. As for Carmichaels, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Geibel Catholic will square off against Aquinas Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Aquinas Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. Carmichaels will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bethlehem Center at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
