This season hasn't been kind to the Clear Creek Golddiggers, who are still winless after their eighth matchup. They were dealt a 54-19 defeat at the hands of Gilpin County on Saturday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Clear Creek in their matchups with Gilpin County: they've now lost five in a row.
Several Golddiggers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elizabeth Rooney, who scored eight points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aerah Fulton, who scored no points along with 16 rebounds and two blocks.
Gilpin County found their leader in underclassman ELISE VINCENT, who scored 18 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points VINCENT has scored all season. ANNABELLE ALOEL was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Clear Creek's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.4 points per game. As for Gilpin County, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Coincidentally, Clear Creek and Gilpin County will both be playing Dawson School the next time they take the court. Gilpin County will head out to face Dawson School at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Clear Creek will head out to face them at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday.
