The Lane Tech Champions's game last Thursday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They snuck past Westinghouse with a 56-52 victory. This was payback for Lane Tech, who suffered a 59-48 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Lane Tech was led to victory by Grace Bush and Melanie Blanco. Bush scored 14 points along with eight rebounds, while Blanco scored 17 points along with three steals. Blanco is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Lamperis, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Lane Tech's win bumped their record up to 14-9. As for Westinghouse, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-3.
Lane Tech will be playing at home against Glenbrook North at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Westinghouse will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Senn at 5:00 p.m. on January 19th. Senn will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 558th, while Westinghouse is ranked 104th).
