The Avon Orioles will be home for the holidays to greet the Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory Braves at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Avon's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven contests.
Even though Avon has not done well against Brownsburg recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Avon secured a 62-58 W over Brownsburg. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Avon's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Aniah Smith, who scored 18 points along with nine assists, and Makaylee Butts, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least 25% of Avon's points. Joyce Smiley was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Meanwhile, Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a hard 52-33 fall against Roncalli. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory has scored all season.
Avon's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.
