The Millbury Woolies will face off against the Uxbridge Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Uxbridge will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Millbury extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday. The Woolies came out on top in a nail-biter against Notre Dame Academy, sneaking past 3-1. While the Woolies didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-8), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Brielle Brothers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Uxbridge ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past St. Paul 8-7.
Lola Grube and Mia Manning did most of the damage at the plate: Grube went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI, while Manning went 4-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those four hits gave Manning a new career-high. Mary Lowery was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Uxbridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Millbury's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Uxbridge, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Millbury has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Uxbridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Millbury came up short against Uxbridge in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, falling 5-1. Will the Woolies have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
