The Stonington Bears pushed their score all the way to 67 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 73-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fitch. Stonington has not had much luck with Fitch recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Fitch's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Xavier Goode, who scored 29 points along with five rebounds. Goode is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayvon "JJ" Robinson, who scored 16 points along with seven assists and five steals.
Stonington has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season. As for Fitch, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stonington will take on Putnam at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Putnam focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Wednesday. As for Fitch, they will be playing at home against Hand at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
