Blue Ridge had to start their season on the road  on Wednesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They suffered a  rough 15-1 loss at the hands of the Mid Valley Spartans. Blue Ridge has not had much luck with Mid Valley recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
 For Mid Valley's part,  Lorenzo Hernandez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he  pitched  an inning while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits (he also didn't allow any  walks). Hernandez was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
 In other pitching news,  Jordan Ricciardi looked comfortable as he  didn't allow a single  earned run and  only two  hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched.
 Back at the plate, Mid Valley got a  massive  performance out of  Nick Mills, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 2-for-3.  Brett Yanoski was another key contributor,  scoring two  runs while going 2-for-3.
 Mid Valley now  has a winning record of 2-1.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blue Ridge will take on Elk Lake at 4:00  p.m.  on Monday. As for Mid Valley, their homestand will continue as they prepare to take on Old Forge at 5:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Mid Valley and Old Forge are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
