Lower Moreland took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They skirted past Academy of the New Church 7-6. Lower Moreland hasn't had any issues with Academy of the New Church recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Maddie Menchhofer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Molly Weber, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jordyn MacPhee, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Collegium Charter was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They lost 17-2 to Faith Christian Academy.
Collegium Charter saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Woolfolk, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Collegium Charter dropped their record down to 1-8 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Lower Moreland, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9.
Collegium Charter's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Lower Moreland has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game.
