The Trinity Christian Crusaders had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 45.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 72-20 win over GRACE Christian. The result was nothing new for Trinity Christian, who have now won seven contests by 29 points or more so far this season.
Elijiah Oehlke got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 98 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries, and also threw for 247 yards and four touchdowns while completing 78.9% of his passes. Oehlke is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Karlfonza Smith, who picked up 156 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Trinity Christian's victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-5 Sandhills T and 0-4 Beacon Hill HomeSchool (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 17.8% over those games). As for GRACE Christian, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Trinity Christian will take on Harrells Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Harrells Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while Trinity Christian is ranked 146th). As for GRACE Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Wake Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m.
