Lake Norman is a perfect 7-0 against West Cabarrus since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Lake Norman Wildcats will take on the West Cabarrus Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Lake Norman lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Bandys, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's match. Lake Norman blew past Bandys 11-1 on Thursday. The win was familiar territory for the Wildcats, who have now won four games in a row.
Kail Panaccione was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Vivian Billard, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Cabarrus). They were the clear victor by a 22-6 margin over Christ the King on Thursday. With that victory, the Wolverines brought their scoring average up to 8.4 runs per game.
Brooklyn Brower was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Brower was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Kamryn Weaks was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Pedrick, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and one RBI.
West Cabarrus kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Lake Norman's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for West Cabarrus, their record is now 2-3.
West Cabarrus' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Lake Norman has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for West Cabarrus, though, as they've been averaging only 2.6 strikeouts. Will Lake Norman keep running through batters, or will West Cabarrus buck the trend?
Lake Norman took their victory against West Cabarrus in their previous meeting on Tuesday by a conclusive 14-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lake Norman since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
