Manor hasn't had much luck against Cedar Ridge recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mustangs will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. Manor has given up an average of 10.3 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Manor saw some tournament action on Thursday. They lost 12-5 to Mabank.
Nina Esqueda was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Cedar Ridge came out on top against Round Rock Westwood on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run third inning. The Raiders blew past the Warriors 13-3. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Matilee Casey spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
On the hitting side, Kaia Miske was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Otto, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Cedar Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
Cedar Ridge's win bumped their record up to 5-7-1. As for Manor, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
Manor's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's game. The Mustangs have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Cedar Ridge, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Manor continue to outrun the ball?
Manor might still be hurting after the 17-1 defeat they got from Cedar Ridge when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
