Softball Recap: Savannah Miller and Hailey Graves Secure Win for Walkertown

Walkertown put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Wheatmore Warriors a 9-0 shutout. The Wolfpack might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by nine runs or more this season.

Macy Miller and Olivia Boast were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Miller kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Meanwhile, Boast pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Miller has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Miller went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double, while Boast went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that Boast snagged this season.

In other batting news, Walkertown let Hailey Graves and Savannah Miller run wild. Graves went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple, while Miller went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Miller has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Taylor Isley, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

Walkertown lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Walkertown's record now sits at 12-3. As for Wheatmore, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Walkertown will take on West Stokes at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolfpack will need to watch out since the Wildcats have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Wheatmore, they will face off against Providence Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
