Basketball Game Preview: Morristown Yellow Jackets vs. Southwestern Spartans

Morristown is 8-2 against Southwestern since December of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Morristown Yellow Jackets will host the Southwestern Spartans at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Morristown has three straight wins, Southwestern has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Morristown is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 73-40 victory over Waldron. The Yellow Jackets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 33 points or more this season.

Morristown had a senior duo take command as Nevaeh Sanders went 13 of 23 on her way to 31 points and five steals and Danika Rutledge dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sanders has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Cox, who posted eight points.

Morristown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Southwestern had to suffer through a 68-20 loss at the hands of Triton Central.

Morristown pushed their record up to 5-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 31 points. As for Southwestern, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.

Morristown took their victory against Southwestern in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 51-29. Will Morristown repeat their success, or does Southwestern have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
