Jena barely beat Bunkie the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Jena Giants blew past the Bunkie Panthers 15-5 on Tuesday. Considering the Giants have won 13 games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Collin Jensen made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Jena got a massive performance out of Zoyle Gemar, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Gemar has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonas Jenkins, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Jena's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-7. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Bunkie, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-8.
Coming up, Jena will square off against Oak Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bunkie, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Franklin Parish at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
