The Fairfield Indians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Mason 59-27. While losing is never fun, Fairfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while Mason is ranked seventh).
Fairfield's loss came despite strong showings from Myka Richardson and Kayla McCoy. Richardson scored eight points along with seven rebounds, while McCoy scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Fairfield struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Madison Parrish was her usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with five rebounds for Mason. Addy Gillman was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Fairfield's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Mason, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 16-2.
Fairfield will head out on the road to square off against Princeton at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mason, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Oak Hills at 6:30 p.m.
