The Willcox Cowboys won the last time they faced the Tombstone Yellow Jackets, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Willcox came out on top against Tombstone by a score of 58-50. The win made it back-to-back wins for Willcox.
Willcox's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lane Whetten led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Whetten is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games he's played. Jacob Kauffman was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with three steals.
Willcox's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Tombstone, they bumped their record down to 5-9 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games.
