Cyprus has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Taylorsville Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Cyprus is ranked 55th, while Taylorsville is ranked 70th).
On Wednesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Cyprus beat Hunter 47-43.
Cyprus' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tamila Francis, who scored 12 points along with three steals. Francis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Calee Sharp, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to post eight more assists than your opponent, a fact Taylorsville proved on Tuesday. They came out on top against Kearns by a score of 56-47.
Among those leading the charge was Ella Wolfgramm, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Marlee Reupena was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six assists and five steals.
The victory got Cyprus back to even at 7-7. As for Taylorsville, the victory also got them back to even at 7-7.
Cyprus was able to grind out a solid win over Taylorsville in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, winning 63-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cyprus since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
