Shorecrest Prep and Northeast are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2015, but not for long. The Shorecrest Prep Chargers will head out on the road to face off against the Northeast Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Shorecrest Prep has three straight wins, Northeast has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
Last Wednesday, Shorecrest Prep strolled past St. Petersburg Catholic with points to spare, taking the game 67-52.

Shorecrest Prep's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Nickolas Bearden, who posted 27 points, and Damarion Feaster, who had 21 points. The game was Bearden's 19th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Edward Mitchem, who put up eight points.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 82-36, which was the final score in Northeast's tilt against East Lake on Wednesday. The matchup marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Shorecrest Prep will have to contain Ezahri Hendrickson as he made an impact in Northeast's last game. He posted five points and five steals. Northeast is 2-1 when Hendrickson posts three or more steals, but 0-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Damon Vines, who earned eight points and six rebounds.
Shorecrest Prep's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Northeast, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Shorecrest Prep hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 58 points per game. However, it's not like Northeast struggles in that department as they've been averaging 58.7 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Shorecrest Prep came up short against Northeast in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 64-59. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Northeast's Dominic Brown, who went 9 of 11 on his way to 26 points and three steals. Now that Shorecrest Prep knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
