The Pine View Panthers will take on the Hurricane Tigers in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pine View will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Pine View and Crimson Cliffs had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Panthers slipped by the Mustangs 49-48 on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Panthers have beaten the Mustangs on their court since February 9, 2023.

Pine View's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ella Fiefia, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 13 boards. That's the most rebounds Fiefia has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Gustin, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 13 points along with five assists and three steals.
Pine View was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crimson Cliffs only racked up five.
Meanwhile, Hurricane played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Dixie and fell 64-32. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-13.
Pine View will have to keep a close watch on Kinsley Yardley and Laynee Walker, a pair of players who had a big impact on Hurricane's prior game. Yardley shot 45% from the field en route to 15 points, while Walker had nine points and seven boards. Afton Bennett also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.
This is the second loss in a row for Hurricane and nudges their season record down to 2-7. As for Pine View, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Pine View has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Hurricane struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.6 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Pine View beat Hurricane 56-45 in their previous matchup back in January. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
