The Granger Lancers struggled with assists on Friday (the Kearns Cougars had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Granger took a 67-51 bruising from Kearns. Granger has not had much luck with Kearns recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Granger lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Isaiah Gukeisen, who scored 14 points. Daudi Aweyso was another key contributor, scoring 20 points.
Kearns had a senior duo take command as Braxton England scored 15 points and Ivan Kaufusi dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Kaufusi scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Cruz, who scored 13 points.
Granger bumped their record down to 2-9 with that defeat, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Kearns, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Granger will take on Juan Diego Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Juan Diego Catholic's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games. As for Kearns, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Taylorsville at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Taylorsville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
