West Florence fell victim to South Florence's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Bruins 38-0. While losing is never fun, West Florence can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 56th, while South Florence is ranked second).
Meanwhile, after a string of eight wins, Lucy Beckham's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 24-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of James Island.
Despite the defeat, Lucy Beckham got a solid performance out of Stephen Segars, who rushed for 134 yards and a touchdown.
This is the second loss in a row for West Florence and nudges their season record down to 5-5. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.5 points per game. As for Lucy Beckham, their loss dropped their record down to 8-1.
