Soccer Game Preview: Clover vs. Wando

Clover is a perfect 3-0 against Wando since February of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Clover Blue Eagles will be playing at home against the Wando Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Clover is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. Their defense stepped up to hand Northwestern an 8-0 shutout on Tuesday. Given the Blue Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Trojans are ranked 108th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Wando's game on Thursday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They beat Cane Bay by a goal, winning 1-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.

Wando's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 17 goals over those three matchups. As for Clover, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Clover took their win against Wando when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 3-0. Will Clover repeat their success, or does Wando have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
