Ganado is 9-1 against the Bobcats/Lady Cats since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Ganado Indians will head out on the road to square off against the Bloomington Bobcats/Lady Cats at 6:15 p.m. Hopefully Ganado focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday.
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought match, but Ganado had to settle for a 36-34 defeat against the Wildcats. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Ganado in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now lost three in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Isabel Tristan, who scored four points along with seven rebounds and three steals. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aileen Zavala, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Bloomington was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past the Hornets 49-21 on the road. Bloomington pushed the score to 36-12 by the end of the third, a deficit the Hornets had little chance of recovering from.
Bloomington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kenzi Proctor led the charge by scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. Another player making a difference was Khyli Proctor, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Ganado's loss dropped their record down to 13-18. As for Bloomington, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 23-9 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Ganado have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Bloomington struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.5 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Ganado couldn't quite finish off the Bobcats/Lady Cats when the teams last played back in January and fell 32-29. Can Ganado avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
