White Knoll's tournament run continued when they took on Huss two weeks ago. White Knoll managed a 41-37 win over Huss. Given the Timberwolves' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 36th in South Carolina, while the Huskies are ranked 155th in North Carolina), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Shaelyn Hayes and Brooklyn Swann. Hayes had a solid game and posted 12 points. Meanwhile, Swann did her best for the losing side, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 11 boards.
Meanwhile, Lower Richland didn't have too much trouble with Northridge two weeks ago as they won 68-53.
White Knoll better keep an eye on Chi?Nya Isaac. She was instrumental in Lower Richland's win, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 assists. The dominant performance gave Isaac a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jhnai Sumter, who went 6 of 9 on her way to 13 points and seven rebounds.
Lower Richland was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
White Knoll's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Lower Richland, their win bumped their record up to 10-1.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: White Knoll has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 31.3 boards per game. However, it's not like Lower Richland struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
