Two dominant guards in Anywan Kuang and Colton Blackham are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Kearns Cougars are on the road again on Friday and plays the West Jordan Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. One thing working in Kearns' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests.
Even though Taylorsville scored an imposing 57 points on Friday, Kearns still came out on top. Kearns enjoyed a cozy 71-57 victory over Taylorsville. Kearns pushed the score to 51-30 by the end of the third, a deficit Taylorsville cut but never quite recovered from.
Meanwhile, West Jordan came tearing into Tuesday's contest with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Granger 77-49 on the road. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up seven more assists than your opponent, as West Jordan did.
West Jordan got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Blackham out in front who scored 18 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Blackham hasn't dropped below 15 points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinton Robinson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.
Kearns is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-12 record this season. As for West Jordan, they pushed their record up to 11-10 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Kearns might still be hurting after the 83-57 defeat they got from West Jordan in their previous matchup back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of West Jordan's Carter Dorenbosch, who scored 21 points. Now that Kearns knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
