After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sunrise Mountain, Southeast Career Tech was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Durango Trailblazers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Roadrunners have posted since March 24th.
Southeast Career Tech took Durango into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The final score came out to 25-19, 19-25, 21-25, 27-25, 15-13.
Durango's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was James Carl Serrano, who had 46 assists and five digs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Campana, who had 14 digs and two aces.
Southeast Career Tech's victory bumped their record up to 6-19. As for Durango, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-16.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southeast Career Tech will venture away from home to face off against Doral Academy Red Rock at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Roadrunners are facing the Dragons at the right time seeing as the Dragons are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Durango, they will challenge Sierra Vista at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
