The Perry Maroons fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They snuck past Chisholm with a 12-8 win on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Perry also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.
Whelan Carson was the offensive standout of the match as he picked up 190 receiving yards and a touchdown. Jaxson Cunningham also helped out by tossing the rock for 251 yards.
Perry's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-4. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-8 Hennessey and 1-8 Newkirk (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 25.9% over those games). As for Chisholm, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.
Perry will head out on the road to face off against Alva at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Chisholm, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Oklahoma Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
