Two dominant backs in Jordan Rutan and Andrew Field are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Punxsutawney Chucks will challenge the St. Marys Flying Dutch at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Punxsutawney has seven straight victories, St. Marys has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Punxsutawney had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 42-point drubbing they dealt Redbank Valley on Friday. The Chucks blew past the Bulldogs, posting a 56-14 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Chucks' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 284th).

Maddox Hetrick
10/03/25 @ Redbank Valley | 166 |
09/05/25 vs Bradford | 135.4 |
08/29/25 @ DuBois | 128.7 |
08/23/24 vs St. Marys | 122.3 |
09/06/24 vs Moniteau | 119.1 |
Maddox Hetrick was his usual excellent self, throwing for 271 yards and two TDs while completing 86.7% of his passes, and also punching in one score on the ground. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (166). Punxsutawney also got help from Logan Moore, who showed off his sure hands for 137 receiving yards.
Punxsutawney didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Redbank Valley to a completion percentage of just 48%. The team can thank Jaden Greenblatt for the heroic effort on defense: he. Punxsutawney has been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.63 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.63 in their last three games.
Punxsutawney's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for five sacks. Teeg Hetrick was especially locked on to Redbank Valley's QB and sacked him twice.
Meanwhile, St. Marys ended up a good deal behind Central Clarion [Clarion/Clarion-Limestone/North Clarion] on Friday and lost 21-6.
St. Marys' defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Punxsutawney, their record is now 7-0.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Punxsutawney has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 397 total yards per game. It's a different story for St. Marys, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 211.1 total yards. Will Punxsutawney be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Flying Dutch flip the script?
Punxsutawney strolled past St. Marys when the teams last played back in August of 2024 by a score of 30-13. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chucks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
