The Pine Crest Panthers came tearing into Monday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past West Boca Raton 53-22 at home. Pine Crest has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 22 points or more this season.
Leading Pine Crest to victory were Franky Garfi and Isabella M sangha. Garfi dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds, while M sangha dropped a double-double on 25 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which M sangha has scored at least a third of Pine Crest's points. Another player making a difference was Alicia Marzouca, who scored three points along with eight steals and five rebounds.
Pine Crest is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for West Boca Raton, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-17.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pine Crest will play host again and welcome American Heritage, where tip off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Boca Raton, they will be playing at home against Grandview Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
