Basketball Recap: Cumberland Piles Up the Points Against Blue Ridge

Cumberland lost to Blue Ridge back in January of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Cumberland Pirates blew past the Blue Ridge Knights 59-28. The victory was familiar territory for the Pirates who have now won four matchups in a row.

Cameron Roedl went supernova for Cumberland, going 10 for 20 on his way to 25 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That's the most steals Roedl has posted since back in December of 2024. Zack Harmon was another key player, putting up six points in addition to 12 boards and three blocks.

Cumberland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Cumberland is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points per game. As for Blue Ridge, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-11.

Cumberland has already played their next game, a 53-9 win against Heritage on the 21st. As for Blue Ridge, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 55-48 victory against Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond on the 21st.
