While losing is never fun, New Hope Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while Clinton Grace is ranked eighth).
New Hope Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jalen Martinez, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Uriah Augare-Deal was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds.
New Hope Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-19 record this season. As for Clinton Grace, their victory bumped their record up to 24-4.
New Hope Academy will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Fairfax Christian at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in New Hope Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 24 games. Clinton Grace will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Springdale Prep at 6:30 p.m. on February 9th. Springdale Prep is coming into the contest with three straight victories at home, meaning Clinton Grace will have to defend against a team hungry for a win.
