Sparta's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zach Bodeker, who scored 19 points. That's the first time this season that Bodeker scored 15 or more points. Dariontez Monroe was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with nine rebounds.
Steeleville has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season. As for Sparta, their victory bumped their record up to 12-6.
Steeleville and Lovejoy will face off on January 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lovejoy is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Sparta, they will face off against Murphysboro at 8:30 p.m. on Friday.
