The Mechanicsville Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They lost to Hanover on the road by a decisive 62-45 margin. Mechanicsville has struggled against Hanover recently, as their contest on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Mechanicsville lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kedelin Santos, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds. Santos set a new season high mark in blocks with two. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Carlton, who scored eight points along with five steals.
Mechanicsville's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Hanover, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season.
Mechanicsville will head out on the road to face off against Henrico at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hanover will be home for the holidays to greet Varina at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Varina will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while Hanover is ranked 86th).
