Softball Recap: Serena Has No Trouble Against Indian Creek

Serena won the last time they faced Indian Creek and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Huskers were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the Timberwolves. Considering the Huskers have won four matchups by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Cassie Walsh made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over 5.2 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Lanee Cole was a standout: she scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of RayElle Brennan, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Serena kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.

Serena's record now sits at 5-1. As for Indian Creek, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Coming up, Serena will face off against Kaneland at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Huskers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Indian Creek, they will take on Ashton-Franklin Center at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
