Lone Oak hasn't had much luck against Mount Vernon recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Mount Vernon won against Commerce on Tuesday with 17 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. Mount Vernon put the hurt on Commerce with a sharp 17-1 victory. Mount Vernon hasn't had any issues with Commerce recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Ryder Bowers made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Mount Vernon is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 5-6-1 otherwise. Bowers was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three runs.
In other batting news, Mount Vernon got a massive performance out of Landry Moss, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases. Moss has become a key player for Mount Vernon: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 5-6-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Wesley Salinas, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI and one run.
Mount Vernon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Mount Vernon's victory bumped their record up to 8-6-1. As for Lone Oak, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
