Sam Powell Turns in Season-Best Performance
Golden Gate was led to victory by Sam Powell, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Powell threw for 395 yards and eight touchdowns while picking up 13.6 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 40 yards. The effort marked the most rushing yards he has had since back in August.
With the win, Golden Gate broke their eight-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-7. Powell and Golden Gate will be playing in front of their home fans against IMG Academy White at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Javien Altine's rushing tear continued on Friday as he dropped his third-straight game with 139+ rushing yards. He rushed for 161 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry. He showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 67 yards.
On the year, Altine has run in 10 touchdowns while averaging 135 rushing yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he was only averaging ten rushing yards per game.

Immokalee Wins Sixth-Straight Thanks to Jayden Mixon
Immokalee picked up their sixth consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Jayden Mixon. Nobody could stop Mixon as he rushed for 114 yards and two touchdowns.
Mixon might have his next game, a home matchup with Palmetto Ridge, circled on his calendar. When Mixon last faced the Bears back in October of 2023, he rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries.

A Season-Best Effort from Luke Tallstrom Leads Gulf Coast over Immokalee
On Friday, Gulf Coast had to settle for second even though Luke Tallstrom put up the best numbers he has all season. Tallstrom wasn't messing around, making 19 total tackles (1.0 for loss). The contest was his ninth straight with six or more total tackles.
This season, Tallstrom has averaged 13.4 total tackles per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after nine games last season, he was only averaging 0.22 total tackles per game.
