Football Game Preview: St. Anne's-Belfield Saints vs. Nansemond-Suffolk Academy Saints

St. Anne's-Belfield is 1-6 against Nansemond-Suffolk Academy since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. St. Anne's-Belfield will venture away from home to face off against Nansemond-Suffolk Academy at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Nansemond-Suffolk Academy will take on a team with plenty of momentum: St. Anne's-Belfield extended their winning streak to eight on Friday. The Saints put the hurt on Atlantic Shores Christian with a sharp 36-15 victory.

Jonah Brent produced another solid effort rushing for 106 yards and two TDs on only 12 carries, while also picking up 40 receiving yards and one score. He has been hot, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Haden Morris, who threw for 214 yards and three touchdowns.

Another reason for the win was St. Anne's-Belfield's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Mattias Kass was especially locked on to Atlantic Shores Christian's QB and sacked him three times. Another thorn in the Seahawks' side was Jack OMalley, who made 12 total tackles and snagged an interception.

Meanwhile, Nansemond-Suffolk Academy got themselves on the board against Fredericksburg Christian on Saturday, but Fredericksburg Christian never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 22-0 margin over the Eagles. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Saints just coasted through the last quarter.

St. Anne's-Belfield's record is now 8-0. As for Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, their record now sits at 6-3.

Things could have been worse for St. Anne's-Belfield, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 33-17 loss to Nansemond-Suffolk Academy in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Can St. Anne's-Belfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
