The Holtville Bulldogs lost against the Marbury Bulldogs on January 9th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Holtville was beaten by Marbury 51-22. While losing is never fun, Holtville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 320th, while Marbury is ranked 118th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marbury to victory, but perhaps none more so than Addyson Jarman, who scored ten points along with six assists and five rebounds. Jarman also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Nasiyah Jernigan, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Holtville has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. As for Marbury, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-5.
Holtville will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Thorsby at 6:00 p.m. As for Marbury, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Pike Road at 2:00 p.m. on January 27th. Pike Road is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
