Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Laurel Spartans, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They suffered a tough 35-10 defeat at the hands of Blair on Saturday. Laurel's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Demerius Custis threw for 47 yards while completing 100% of his passes. Tavon Gilmore was his top target, picking up 47 receiving yards. On the ground, Takel Sanford rushed for 48 yards.
Laurel's loss was their third straight at home , which bumped their record down to 4-5. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 8.0 points per game. As for Blair, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-7.
Laurel does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Blair will head out on the road to face off against Walter Johnson at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Walter Johnson is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
