Skyview is a perfect 6-0 against Gateway since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Wolverines will host the Olympians at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Skyview's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. Everything went their way against Overland as they made off with a 17-0 win. Winning may never get old, but the Wolverines sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Caden Jensen looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Joseph Trujillo, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Skyview: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-8 otherwise. Juan Esquivel was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Skyview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 9.2.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Gateway, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past Adams City 14-4 on Saturday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Olympians needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Jakob Petersen was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Angel Ferrusquia, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs.
Gateway pushed their record up to 8-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Skyview, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Skyview has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Gateway struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Skyview took their win against Gateway when the teams last played on April 8th by a conclusive 14-6 score. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Olympians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
