Highland has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Davis Darts at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Highland pushed their score all the way to 64 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Murray 70-64. Highland found out winning isn't easy when you drain nine fewer threes than your opponent.
Despite the defeat, Highland saw an underclassman step up: Isaiah Drisdom scored 23 points. The matchup was Drisdom's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of George Mcconkie, who scored 12 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 blocks.
Meanwhile, Davis pushed their score all the way to 80 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Pleasant Grove by a score of 83-80. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Tuesday (69), Davis still had to take the loss.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Coleman Atwater, who scored 22 points along with 6 rebounds. He scored a full 27.5% of Davis' points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Zach Fisher, who scored 22 points along with 5 rebounds.
Their wins bumped Highland to 2-1 and Murray to 2-0.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's match: Highland have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 8 threes per game. However, it's not like Davis struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.3 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
