The Forest Hills Rangers will square off against the Bedford Bisons at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bedford took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Forest Hills, who comes in off a win.
Last Thursday, Forest Hills made easy work of Penn Cambria and carried off an 11-2 win. The Rangers haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Avery Smiach made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Smiach was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Aivah Maul was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Trista Cruley was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Forest Hills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .395. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Penn Cambria only posted a batting average of .125.
Meanwhile, Bedford came up short against Allegany on Monday and fell 9-4.
Bedford saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emily Pratt, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Another was Sammi Shoemaker, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base.
Forest Hills' win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Bedford, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2.
Forest Hills took their win against Bedford in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 16-4. Will Forest Hills repeat their success, or does Bedford has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
