That result was just more of the same for these two, as Salina Central also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Salina Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Charlize Waltman, who scored nine points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Saniya Triplett, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Saliyah Johnson, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and four steals. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Phillips, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Salina Central's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-7. As for Arkansas City, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Salina Central's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Derby is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.9 points per game this season. As for Arkansas City, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Lions at 6:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Kansas (Goddard is ranked 184th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 194th).
