Layla Burt posted a new career-high in strikeouts on Friday. As a matter of fact, she produced her best game of the campaign: she struck out 14 batters over eight innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

Burt's strong effort led Loyd Star over Pelahatchie and she'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
