North Montgomery has gone 7-2 against Covington recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Chargin' Chargers will challenge the Trojans at 5:30 p.m. North Montgomery will come into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
North Montgomery came out on top against Western Boone on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Chargin' Chargers took their game against the Stars 8-3. Eight seems to be a good number for the Chargin' Chargers as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Cade Cole spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, North Montgomery let Tucker Hinds and Aiden Ambriz-Cruz run wild. Hinds went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Ambriz-Cruz got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three stolen bases gave Ambriz-Cruz a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Crew Cole, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Covington unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Parke Heritage by a score of 2-1. The contest marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring match so far this season.
Covington also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and he was also dialed-in: Kyven Hill gave up two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. Hill has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Covington saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaden Smith, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double.
North Montgomery pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Covington, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. North Montgomery has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Covington struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
North Montgomery beat Covington 6-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chargin' Chargers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
